Apprentices are a major part of our business and we always look forward to seeing them succeed. Three of our apprentices were recently invited to take part in a video recorded by Newcastle Under Lyme College, (part of the Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group) to discuss their apprenticeship stories.
Charlie Harding started his apprenticeship with us in July of 2017, studying level 2 Business Administration he works within our UK Stoke on Trent sales team and has quickly become a major part of the department.
Next, Kiera Owen joined us in July in 2017 and began her studies in accounting. Kiera works in our accounts payable department at our Stoke on Trent site and is now responsible for ensuring on time payments to all suppliers.
Finally we have Zak Heeland. Zak joined Brown McFarlane in October 2017 and began working on our shop floor. Zak has quickly progressed and now works in our operations department at our Stoke on Trent facility. He has responsibility for organising our production schedule.
All three apprentices have shown themselves to be not only trustworthy and reliable but have had a positive impact on Brown McFarlanes business. The business will continue to support all apprentices in their studies and working roles to obtain their qualifications. Training and support is offered to all employees, in all areas of the business to ensure that we enhances the skills of the Brown McFarlane team.
The future of businesses such as Brown McFarlane and the metals industry, depends on the next generations engagement with roles in the industry. With a current skills shortage in metal sector roles, we can expect the future of the industry to be in decline without intervention. Due to this, Brown McFarlane is committed to engaging with the next generation for the future of both the business and the metals industry.
